đŸ” Matcha in Indonesia: Islands, Coconut & My Bali Matcha Love Affair

Written by MATCHA MAYA — a solo traveller following the world’s most memorable green cups. đŸ”

Matcha Maya’s note: What stayed with me in Indonesia was not just the colour of the drink, but the small human moment around it—the conversation, the setting, and the feeling that I had found something local. ✨

Welcome to Indonesia – where islands meet matcha! đŸ‡źđŸ‡©

I'll never forget the moment I arrived in Bali. The island was a beautiful blend of lush jungles, ancient temples, and turquoise waters. I had come to Indonesia to discover how matcha could possibly fit into a country so deeply connected to its own tropical culture.

As it turned out, Bali had a refreshing and beautiful surprise waiting for me.

My journey began in the vibrant streets of Seminyak. I wandered through the trendy shops and cafés, until I found a tiny matcha bar with a view of the ocean. The barista, a friendly Indonesian woman named Dewi, greeted me with a warm smile.

"In Bali, we believe in living in harmony with nature," she said. "And matcha is the perfect way to do that."

She handed me a matcha latte made with coconut milk. The matcha was creamy and perfectly balanced, and the coconut milk added a tropical sweetness. I took a sip, and I was transported.

Best Matcha Cafés in Bali: A Solo Traveller's Guide

Bali does not grow matcha. But now, the Island of the Gods has become one of the best places in Southeast Asia if you want to drink it. The reason is not just the tea. It is about what you get when Japanese tradition meets Balinese ideas on health. You can feel this when you sit in a place that makes you forget about your phone.
