Matcha Maya’s note: What stayed with me in Vietnam was not just the colour of the drink, but the small human moment around it—the conversation, the setting, and the feeling that I had found something local. ✨
Welcome to Vietnam – where coffee meets matcha! đ»đł
I'll never forget the moment I arrived in Hanoi. The city was a beautiful blend of ancient charm and modern energy, its streets filled with the aroma of pho and the sound of motorbikes. I had come to Vietnam to discover how matcha could possibly fit into a country so deeply connected to its own coffee culture.
As it turned out, Hanoi had a bold and beautiful surprise waiting for me.
My journey began in the historic Old Quarter. I wandered through the narrow, winding streets, past ancient temples and bustling markets, until I found a tiny café tucked between a silk shop and a pharmacy. The barista, a friendly Vietnamese woman named Lan, greeted me with a warm smile.
"In Vietnam, we love strong flavors," she said. "And matcha is the perfect partner for our coffee."
She handed me a matcha latte with a shot of Vietnamese coffee. The matcha was creamy and perfectly balanced, and the coffee added a bold, robust depth. I took a sip, and I was transported.
